You just signed a new SEO client in an obscure niche and you’re both excited to get started. There’s just one problem… he’s in the blue cupcake niche and his website is so new that he told the Google spider bot to take off her slippers before walking in.

Needless to say, his site has a fresh PR0, little content and NO ONE wants to link to him.

So how do you quickly build your client’s site to a point where people will take it seriously?
How do you get high quality, related links that you can use for immediate link juice and leverage to get additional links from community sites?

Well… you COULD start building web 2.0 properties like Squidoo and Tumblr. Not a bad choice but that’s a lot of content and those pages will still have a PR0 by the time you’re done with them.

And if you’re doing a link exchange with competing websites, saying: “I’ll trade you a homepage link for a link on my Squidoo page” isn’t going to get you very far.

I have a better way that’s quick, effective and repeatable for each new client.

It will give you instant high quality PR3-4 links that are related and in-context links. They’ll never be banned and you can use this property to negotiate additional links in the future from the competition.

Best of all, this works in every niche so even if your customer is in the nuts and bolts industry, you’re covered.

Outline:

1. Buy an expired PR 3-4 site
2. Set it up as sister site to your SEO client’s site (Same topic, related content, high quality signals)
3. Create your own related, in-context links back to your client’s site.
4. Contact competition and negotiate links back to your client’s main site, in exchange for high PR links from your sister site.

Buying an expired PR3-4 domain

Once you have this entire process down packed, you can pretty much do this in half a day and you’ll get enough link juice to satisfy your client for an entire month. (Yes, I’m saying you can do half a day’s work and produce enough results to charge your client an entire month’s work. I don’t because of ethical reasons but you could get away with it and both sides would be happy.)

There are a few cheaper ways to buy expired domains, but as a professional that doesn’t have time to waste, I use the Freshdrop service to locate the best sites in record time. (I’m not getting any commission for recommending them and I suggest you sign up for as little as possible since they are overpriced. They have a 2 day trial for the pro version so if you can do it within 48 hours, you’re good to go. Otherwise just cancel when you’re done using it and sign up again every time you get a new client)

Here’s are my recommended filters to use with FreshDrop:
– .com, .org and .net extensions. (For some reason .org seem to be easier to find)
– PR3-4 Page Rank
– Fake : No
– DMOZ, Age, YD, GD : Doesn’t matter
– Price: 0 – $250
– Domain length: Doesn’t matter
– Expiring: Within 48 hours

By doing this, you’ll get yourself a nice list of domains that are available for the picking. It’s VERY important to do some manual research yourself when you are thinking of bidding on a domain.

Using OpenSiteExplorer, check the backlinks before bidding. You want to know WHY it has a high PR before bidding on it. You’re looking for a good amount of link diversity because that means that it’s likely to keep it’s PR for a long time after you purchase the domain. If the domain has a high PR due to one or two big sites linking to it, then avoid it because the PR is likely to drop when those links disappear.

Got it? Good. It’s that simple. Bid and purchase an expired PR3-4 domain and then re-direct it back to one of your servers. (You DO have you servers right?)
